Rain Plans: Event will be held in light or intermittent rain. If there is a steady rain, people will gather at LEPOCO Peace Center at 8:30 am… to make plans for a rain date.
Call 610-691-8730 if in doubt.
WHY WE WALK AND RIDE
The proceeds from this event will benefit LEPOCO’s local work for peace and justice. As a local peace group LEPOCO has worked for over 50 years to stop U.S. military intervention, to rid the world of nuclear weapons, to cut excessive military spending, and promote nonviolent resolution of conflict. We want to see a society where people’s needs come before profit and where we can live in harmony with the earth and each other.
Among other activities, LEPOCO publishes a regular newsletter, maintains an office at 313 West 4th St. Bethlehem, organizes public demonstrations for peace, and sponsors many public educational events on issues of peace and justice, including since 1990, a summer “Peace Camp” for children.
We hope each participant will find 10 or more sponsors with each pledging at least $1 per kilometer (flat pledges are also welcome). For those not able to collect pledges, a minimum $10 self-pledge is suggested. Riders/walkers with the highest sponsorship total, will be awarded gift certificates.
Pledge sheets are available at the LEPOCO Peace Center, 313 W. Fourth St., Bethlehem. Call 610-691-8730. Pledge payments at the event check-in are welcome. If not, please collect your pledges promptly after the event!
