This film biography of Thomas Merton (1915-1968), the Trappist monk, poet, social activist and student of comparative religion, features interviews with some of those who knew him — the Dalai Lama, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, musican Joan Baez, other monks and friends. Passages from his writings are interwoven with the interviews.
